If you would like to become a member of the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society (SCAS Pueblo) it's actually very easy. Just visit the Membership Form page and print out the form. Bring it to the next SCAS Pueblo monthly meeting or any event we have scheduled, give it to a SCAS Pueblo Executive member, and it's a done deal, you're in. No secret hand shake to memorize, no special passwords, heck you don't even need a telescope, just an interest in the skies above. Contact any member for more information.
Please remember to refresh your browser from time to time when visiting the site as information changes frequently. Thanks

The Media page has been changed to add current and past SCAS Newsletters. These are PDF files that can be downloaded. Please do note that the printed format of the newsletter is on 11 X 17 paper using landscape orientation. The February 2012 edition and all subsequent issues will be generated in 8.5 X 11 format to facilitate easier printing.
CSU-P Observatory Temporarily Closed The Colorado State University-Pueblo Observatory has been closed for general public use pending substantial upgrades to the software and hardware. We do not have a projected time frame when the upgrades will be completed at this time. CSU-P students involved in astronomy and physics will be able to use the observatory for a short period pending the completion of individual projects. We do apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding while we make needed improvements to the observatory to better serve the university and our community.

2012 brings us a rare event, the Transit of Venus. Visit the June Calendar for details. If you missed the transit in 2004 this is now a once in a lifetime event. Join SCAS to watch as the second rock from the Sun crosses in front of our local Star.
March Monthly Meeting Topic For the monthly membership meeting the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society (SCAS) proudly presents our society President and CSU-P Astronomy Lab Instructor Walter Russell. Walter will give a lecture on basic telescope operations including set up and night sky navigation. SCAS will also build in time to provide a health and welfare check up on telescopes brought to the meeting. The general public is invited to attend and encouraged to bring your telescope along with should you have questions on its operation and functionality. Please check back with this site in a few days for the date of this meeting, there is a scheduling conflict that may require us to move the date.
